I have heard those kind of crap so many times now that I seriously am clueless as to if some believers have their own minds or not.  Often it seems like you guys all share the same brain and spit out the same crap, over and over again without thinking about what you are saying in the least.

"I was not suggesting that you can't or shouldn't speak of God, only that it is ludicrous for you to express  opinions (which are by the way, groundless...) about God when you claim you don't believe He exists."

First off my opinions are far from groundless and are very much based on looking at the religious views of people and showing where things just do not fit together.  In the case of the post this started from, I was presenting a concept that would very much fit with the ideas of God and you dismissed the whole thing just because I was an atheist and did not seem to care at all as to what he concept actually was.
Second, it is just as ludicrous for you to speak about a God as it is for me.  Since when has sharing ideas ever been ludicrous?  I know much more about the Bible and the various concepts of God than most believers I know personally and have seen here on Blogit.  Belief or not, it is expressing one's views that is truly important and it would be much more ludicrous for me to remain silent about my views.

"When did this happen?

When did what happen?

"Yes, you live in darkness. But wouldn't you rather someone was kind enough to tell you, or would you go on in your deception? "

I do not live in darkness and there is no deception.  Have you lived my life?  Have you read my posts beyond these two?  Do you have a clue at all about my life?  Just because I can not believe in your God does not mean I live in darkness.  I would be willing to bet anything that my life is as full, if not fuller, of light than your life is.  Don’t make such egotistical assumptions about other people's lives.  The truth is there are many, many paths to finding light in one's life.  It is pure arrogance and ignorance to believe one's way of life is the only way to live in light.

"All you have to do is look at the perfection of the created order and that should be enough for you to know that there must be a Creator."

Wow, you know nothing at all about how the universe works do you?  The order you so much seem to think is there is not really there.  Our world and universe are a balance of chaos and order.  If not for both forces life could not be.  And the more I look at the universe the more I see that it really makes no sense at all to have any kind of intelligence behind it.  I have already dealt with this idea so many times in the past. Of and there is no perfection any where, even in your idea of God.  I showed that some time ago and the truth was it was just too easy to show the Biblical God to be flawed.

"But if you admit that there is a Creator, then you would have to acknowledge that since He made you, you would have to submit your life to His authority."

Even if I thought there was a creator there is no logic at all that says I need to submit to him or his authority.  That is not how it works.  Being a parent myself, I very much know for a fact that it does not work that way. My children need not submit their lives to me. I have also proven in several spots in the past that God is the most piss poor parental model one can find.  If God loved us he would never treat us the way your Bible claims he treats us

"That's the real issue isn't it?"

No, that is not the issue at all.  The issue is that certain religious beliefs that are dominate in our world right now are weakening and have been weakening our potential for far too long and is the true cause of the majority of the problems we face in our world today.  Once we are able to break free of there religious shackles that are based on outdated fictional stories, we can start to grow once more and possible achieve our full potential.

"The only thing you're offended at is the Word of God, which you say is flawed."

No, because I very openly admit I am flawed and have no problem with acknowledging my imperfection, and living with them.

"But you would be offended at anything anyone says that conflicts with your own viewpoint of God."

No, I do not get offend by that either.  I get offend by pompous a-holes claiming I live in darkness when they know nothing about me, basing their full ideas on the simple fact that I am an atheist and using that to try and stereotype the whole of who I am, as you are very clearly doing here.

"So who's narrow-minded?"

You are still because this comment has been 100% stereotyping me by your personal views on what an atheist must be.  You clearly have not read many of my posts and are very mush clueless about my views.  The only thing you have looked at so far is the simple fact hat I am an atheist.

"Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way that leads to life, and few there be that find it; but broad is the path that leads to destruction, and many shall there be that enter therein. And which path are you on?"

I am on the path to build up others and help them find true inner strength.  So far the path you claim to follow has been proven throughout history to be the path of destruction.  I respect humanity and the human spirit far too much to ever for a one moment believe in God, even though man has often proven to be easily misled, and most of the time man has been mislead through belief in God.

"Beware when you oppose God with what you think of as your exalted intellect."

Sorry, but I do not oppose God.  God is fictional and you really can not oppose being that are not real, I have a good enough sense of reality to not get that confused.  I oppose religious teaching that are part of the downfall of our society and are causing great harm, and has caused great harm throughout history.

"You hold your own opinions above God's Word. And you claim you aren't in darkness?"

'God's word' as you call it is just a collection of stories by a group of people who wanted to start controlling others.  My beliefs are just as valid as that collection of stories.  It would be darkness for me to believe otherwise. Once more it gets back to the many paths to find light.  Your source of light is no more justifiable than mine, until you can prove you have a better source.  So far history and life itself has helped me to see that my source of life is much better than a belief in God.

"When all is said and done, and whatever opinions you or I hold to, every man will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account for the things done in the flesh, whether good, or evil?"

Even though that did not sound like question, you put the question mark at the end, so I will answer you.
NO. God and Christ are fictional and so this can never happen.

"If you draw your last breath in the next ten minutes, are you ready to give to God an account for your life?"

If I end up being wrong and there is a God and I have to face him, I am ready for it.  I heavy lived a good, moral life, staying true to myself and my values.  I have not backed down in my beliefs or even pretended to believe in something I simply can not believe in just to play it safe.  In that way, if there really is a God I show great respect towards him by not trivializing faith.  If there is a God and that God is loving and understanding and cares about the virtues in man that should be important above simple worship and the B.S. proclamations of belief, then I have nothing to worry about.  Of course if that God end’s up being the egotistical a-hole that he Bible claims him to be and he judges me first on my belief and worship of him and so condemns me to an eternal punishment, then he shows he is not worth worshipping in the first place and is far form being a loving or perfect being.

The Apostle Paul was addressing his letters to the Romans and Corinthians and Galatians and Ephesians, a Philippians and Colossians and a guy names Philemon.

Do you see your address on those letters?  Do you see the "Epistle to the United States of America?"

NO!

They weren't meant for us.  They were meant for followers of The Way  in certain congregations in certain cities, and they addressed the particular concerns of the time.  Don't have a whole lot to do with us.

Only certain "eternal" precepts, such as Love and Faith.

Check out I Cor. 11, where it says that what he says is only "for the present distress".

Offended?

I was not suggesting that you can't or shouldn't speak of God, only that it is ludicrous for you to express  opinions (which are by the way, groundless...) about God when you claim you don't believe He exists.

When did this happen? 2 Corinthians 4:4 says, "But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this world has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them". Yes, you live in darkness. But wouldn't you rather someone was kind enough to tell you, or would you go on in your deception?

All you have to do is look at the perfection of the created order and that should be enough for you to know that there must be a Creator. Read Romans 1:8 and following if you have a mind to. But if you admit that there is a Creator, then you would have to acknowledge that since He made you, you would have to submit your life to His authority. That's the real issue isn't it? The only thing you're offended at is the Word of God, which you say is flawed. But you would be offended at anything anyone says that conflicts with your own viewpoint of God. So who's narrow-minded? Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way that leads to life, and few there be that find it; but broad is the path that leads to destruction, and many shall there be that enter therein. And which path are you on?

Beware when you oppose God with what you think of as your exalted intellect. You hold your own opinions above God's Word. And you claim you aren't in darkness? "Awake you who sleep! Arise from among the dead, and Christ will give you light".

When all is said and done, and whatever opinions you or I hold to, every man will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account for the things done in the flesh, whether good, or evil? If you draw your last breath in the next ten minutes, are you ready to give to God an account for your life?

Maybe it's the believer who is in the dark because

he dares to talk about atheists.  If you aren't allowed to talk about god, then he shouldn't be allowed to talk about the nonexistence of god.  Let's keep things fair.

And more from the bible as well.  Sigh.  I have more to say on that but I think I'll post it in my religion blog since I may ramble on.  Time for a sermon.
