one time i told a friend that i liked being around her dad
because of the way he smelled.  there was something about it that was manly.  of course, she was in her rebellious teenage years and held no positive views toward her dad so she thought i was right out of my boat.

Hi, nice to see you!

It's incredible that you look at people in your life in that way. I do too. It's just not a very common way to look at life and love and the people who wander in and out of our lives.

wow, have you tried any other spices?  How about almond extract, that smells yummy!   (LOL)

I read one of those stupid "how to catch a man" articles once and it advocated cinnamon. On an impulse, I used some instead of bath powder and in a few hours I smelled absolutely putrid.

I could be found roving the department stores for days looking for that scent but never found it!

I fell in love with a man who wore Safari ...it drove me nuts and he was an idiot, so I just went out and bought a bottle of the darn stuff..

I just tuned in and saw your nice comment... a nice warm fuzzy for me on such a cold cloudy day, thank you!

Nanaroo,
I agree.  This is so beautiful and touching.  It speaks to so many memories I have of men who weren't quite the "one".  And then there is just the plain truth that a good smelling man can drive you mad with one whiff.  (in a good way).  Thanks for the story.  Hugs...

thank you for visiting.. you know the sense of smell comes from a 'prehistoric' part of the brain and it completely by-passes the thinking brain...

I love the way you told this. It is very interesting the connections we have without realizing why.

What a beautiful story Nan...
...in a poignant way.  Life's an adventure...sounds like you discovered that long ago.

Nan--- Good story. I lost a profound love because the timing was not right
for us. Maybe in a future life it will be right.

A good smell sure helps.   I have to admit that there was a fellow once that I was very interested in but the interest ended after the first and only date because he had bad breath.   LOL

That's a great story

Lot's of us have those people in our lives who affect us like that.

In my case it was with my "first love". It didn't end well.

I'm very sensitive to smell...
Even when I'm not with my boyfriend I can smell him, and it makes my whole body shiver!
I hope he smells as great in the next life.

nope, and I kind of wish he had smelled like that- it would have been a better year for me

I wonder....
...if you still would've loved him if he smelled like an old cigar bar?

you're right... and if they don't wear cologne, we can get the true scents...

posted by Nanaroo on March 9, 2006 at 7:59 AM | link to this | reply

I say
that men shouldn't wear cologne on the first, second or third date, this way we can really see them without the pheromones/hormones blurring our vision and minds. Been there done that and I'd of  followed his scent to the ends of the world but my girlfriend pocketed him first (behind my back  of course). Soooo many lessons in life. Great Post

Nanaroo...

I can't say I've ever fallen in love with a man for his smell...But I once bit a guy's neck because he smelled fantastic and I was "in the mood" if you know what I mean!!........

thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day!  Yeah, the vanilla combined with teakwood- wow

posted by Nanaroo on March 9, 2006 at 6:59 AM | link to this | reply

It's a good thing you didn't stay with him!  But I think smell is very important, and an oft-forgotten reason for our attractions.  Someone told me recently that Vanilla is the smell that most men and women both find sexually compelling.

Hi!  thanks for your comments.  I have explored past life stuff to a certain extent but have not found anyone good to work with there.  I'll email you for info.  It's a facinating subject.  The hawks are fine- only about 20 days to go 'til chicks and we're researching telephoto lenses.  Yesterday Mr. Hawk dove straight at me and veered off and I could hear the wind in his wings- it was really cool.

Nan.....

Thank you for sharing this story.  Are you familiar with Edgar Cayce's readings through the Akashic Records? A friend of mine owns a metaphysical center and does the same kind of readings.  I know many of my past lives due to these readings.  He also does crossings....a past life between you and someone else. (your post is what made me think of this) I use this information as a tool for growth and it has helped me tremendously. And it is also great fun to know a past life! And no, shucks I wasn't Cleopatra! LOL He does these reading by mail/tape so if you are interested let me know!  Have a great day! How are the hawks?

How wierd...I'm very affected by smells
But I'd never fall in love over one. Glad you got past this toxic relationship.
