No, it wasn't that! It was that you approached it a little differently than I did, and it opened another vista very quickly for me. That's what was startling about it. You were much more general, and I thought about it for a moment, and thought, 'Yes!'

It has taken me years to reach a point of stoicism regarding my inner demons, which for so long plagued me because I believed in them. My abyss is hate.

The wall is not real, but a hindrance to an unsated desire to be free. Only in realizing that hell is created by desiring heaven, does the wall and what lies beyond it coalesce.

I would daresay that the darkness is essential to understanding: how else can we know what lies beyond, but through the process that takes us there?

the abyss . . .
"dismantle the wall"
I always envision an abyss with walls so tall and steep, icy and/or slippery, that you have to dismantle them by some other device or thinking your way out or around the walls; dismantle seems like an unlikely verb, one I would equate with the Berlin Wall or the Great Wall. Interesting; most people don't survive an abyss.

Interesting - the abyss and calm recognition - can't say I've arrived there yet. I'm learning to be in the abyss, and learning to accept the feelings that come with it. It's not easy to do. In time, I'll get better at it, I'm certain.
My abyss du jour is lonliness - I wonder what your abyss is, or the personal abysses of other bloggers?
Perhaps I'll pose the question in tomorrow's blog - I'd really like to know.
Maybe if enough people step up with their own personal version, it'll provide the feeling for all of us, that we're not swimming in it alone.
Do you really have a calm recognition of your own abyss?

understanding the structure of a wall I think can it be dismantled, what it is. the more you dwell on the unwanted kept within the more the wall is recognized. even if the wall was dead to the mind, you still live within it. not when it is clearly everywhere with no credit to why. or everyone plays esoteric, which is another wall. I relate this to something frustrating, I cant pull a spiritual cape over this.

The Calm Presence Within
I look into the inky blackness
with no despair
Once I ran
from what I thought
might be in there
Now I wait
with expectant calm
Knowing that pure knowledge
can never do harm
Understanding
brings empowerment
