I agree ...
about Clooney (for President, not Best Director) as well as, regarding the greatest living filmmaker, Robert Altman. And (obviously), that the show was dull and lasted way too long.
I pretty much disagree with everything else you wrote, however.
John Stewart (who I like, in his natural setting) was a total bore ... justice was hardly served by "Crash" winning over "Brokeback" ... the victories for "Memoirs of a Geisha" were insignificant ... so on and so forth.
