I think that is disgusting and wrong. Yes, I agree it would make the child clingy but I think the most disturbing things are the fact that a 5 year old can eat and drink on her own, so why would she want to drink breast milk which has no real taste from what I've heard? Also, it seems this mother is not only whacked out, but is a control freak who wants her kids to be dependant on her but for only her own ego. Sick and sad at the same time.

This is a touchy subject, no?
I breastfed my children, my oldest was the longest and I stopped with him when he was a year old (he had teeth, ouch!). By the age of one year, the child should have a good diet of other things and be able to be sustained without breast milk. In some cultures, this isn't so and they breastfeed longer, but I am getting the impression that it wasn't the case here, so just, ewwww!
I just couldn't stay serious here, sorry, I tried, really. I am such a "boob"!

LOL... laughing at Ariala's comments here...
My coworker's wife breast fed all her boys until they were 5. We used to make jokes and ask if they invited their friends for "milk" and cookies.... It's really sort of sick. Once the child knows what a "breast" is, they really shouldn't be sucking on one.... LOL

Throughout history there have been traditions not needs about length of breast feeding. I think you said it all Symphony when you talked about the dependency. This mother, in my opinion, is creating an unreal co-dependency situation between herself and this child. There are all sorts of issues in fertile ground as an infant and a five year old suckle at the same breast. This is far beyond normal child care.
