glad to see i'm not the only one

sitting up at ridiculous hours writing when i have a full day ahead of me tomorrow.  nice chatting with you M.P.O.

looking forward to your follow-up post.  goodnight.

It's more what wasn't said.

I'll post about it tomorrow, because I actually have a long list of complaints about the show (of which, this was only the biggest) and, if I wrote it up now (at 2 AM) I'd almost certainly leave stuff out.

No, fourcats...

though, I was unimpressed with Stewart for other reasons.  There's really nothing anyone could ever say, that would offend me.

However, the Academy made (what I believe was) an egregious error in judgement, that was totally inexplicable.  And, completely tasteless.

oh no wait! i think i know!

"bjork couldn't make it.  she was getting dressed for the show and cheney shot her."

was that it?

posted by fourcats on March 5, 2006 at 10:42 PM | link to this | reply

i couldn't help but notice

the sentiment on the part of the men.  carrying  stuffed penguins, dressing their oscars in matching bowties.  tears being shed.   i thought it showed lovely progress in personal expression.

i'm wracking my brain trying to decide what may have offended you. i missed some of the show due to vacuuming so maybe i missed it.  by any chance was it something jon stewart said?

Cool.

Yes, I did watch, Aaron ...

And, there were just enough "highlights" to qualify the 3+ hours as "time well spent".

Sadly, however, there were far more "lowlights" (in terms of the actual presentation).  Including something extremely disturbing to me (which I haven't heard anyone else mention, yet).

Oh well, at least it'll give me something good to talk about tomorrow morning.

Here are 6 more clicks for your egg jokes. If we can draw something funny out of them and post, we'll mention the credits. Thanks.

You're actually going to watch?
I'd rather watch an entire episode of "Little House on the (sleepy) Prairie" than watch this year's Oscars. Their ratings will make the Olympics look like a smash hit.

posted by AaronB on March 5, 2006 at 5:07 PM | link to this | reply

I would hardly call the "Cheese Impresario" junk, Jack.

Okay, all clicks will be reciprocated upon my return (following the Oscars).  Or, I should say, "all comments" will be reciprocated ... seeing as, I'm not a psychic.

MP,

I know, I know.  You're right, as usual.  I just like to be a smartass.  To paraphrase Quirky's paraphrase of Renny Descartes, ''I'm a smartass, therefore I am.''

So when can I get my baggy of junk?  I prominse to give the edibles out to the poor.

Now?  Now??  Hurry up!!!

But, those people are a lot easier to replace, brettnik.

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 2:28 PM | link to this | reply

So, Nanaroo, are you suggesting I should cancel my order for that "Luxury Dog Bed"?

Oh well, I guess you're right ... I mean, what was I thinking?  I don't even have a dog.

I love nature too, Gulliver...
though moreso when it's contained in a deeper, more complex film like "Grizzly Man".

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 2:24 PM | link to this | reply

And to think, curator...
there are actually people starving and living on the streets only a few miles (maybe even, blocks) from where the Oscars will be held tonight.

I think the grips and the techs need the giftbag more than the stars.

M.P.O.
incredible waste of money!

posted by Nanaroo on March 5, 2006 at 7:10 AM | link to this | reply

But you are right...
It probibly didn't belong in a Theatre.  It was just facinating for me to watch, but then I'm a huge nature lover.

MPO: I loved March of the Penguins
I was just wondering, when Mr. Handyman comes with his one-day service call, what tools does he bring in his utility belt?

posted by Captain_Gulliver on March 5, 2006 at 7:00 AM | link to this | reply

Well the M and Ms would be cool

for 5 minutes.  and then they'd be gone.

Funny where large amounts of money end up in the world, isn't it?

I actually have a whole list of ways to improve the "Blog It' experience...

but, I'd prefer to avoid becoming "one of those people".

I think all my posts are pretty good, actually.  For instance, people seemed to enjoy the "Bird Flu" one, and all that was, was an excerpt from my "real life" journal.  So, you see, I'm a natural.

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 5:47 AM | link to this | reply

I think this is your best post yet, MPO, at least in the "non-artistic"

category.

I agree about your feeling that you sometimes want to take your click back after reading something but each click is worth very little, by itself, so it's not worth it for Blogit to invest in such an idea, even if it were possible to do.  On the other hand, the blogger that got your click SHOULD probably get a half-penny or so for their headline, which is probably what hooked you in the first place, even if it were a "bait-and-switch" gambit.

Oh and, I don't watch SNL, Jack...
I remember everyone made a big deal about their "Chronicles of Narnia" rap video, several months ago ... but, when I finally saw it, it didn't do anything for me.

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 5:24 AM | link to this | reply

I was not a huge fan of that movie, Ann...
as I wrote, it would have made an excellent  "Discovery Channel" special, but it certainly wasn't worthy of a theatrical release.

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 5:22 AM | link to this | reply

It's only for the presenters and performers, Jack...
Also, in the Academy's defense, most of the stars typically charge more than that for an appearance fee (if they are even willing to "appear", at all).

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 5:18 AM | link to this | reply

Okay, let's try that one again...
It just doesn't seem like the ideal "playground" for the "rich and famous", fourcats.

posted by Mademoiselle on March 5, 2006 at 5:14 AM | link to this | reply

I'd certainly take one, Whacky...

I love M&Ms.

Penguins are popular. There's a new penguin movie to be released soon.

Congrats for the wins. :)

So, MPO...

If I go to the awards ceremony do I get a baggy of junk?  Or do I have to be Rich and Famous ?  Crap, if I was that I wouldn't bother to go anyway.  What's the matter with those people?  Did they OD on E.T.?  I think I'm going to go down and plaster the place with Big Macs and simulated Kangaroo blood by Duncan Heinz.

Did you see the Punk Rap Harvard Grad girl on SNL?  I'm going to put together a Punk Rap video myself.  I'll tell ya now, it's going to scare some people big time.

Sorry.  I'm pissy again.

while there are luxury hotels in canada,
breathtaking beauty and a vast variety of things to do, (and not just the stupid ice fishing pasttime shown at the olympics.  honestly, it's no wonder people think canada is a frozen white wasteland) i can see your point.  canada?

No,no, I keep getting tarred and feathered for going to the extreme left..
I would merely like say, Jonas Salk, to get a Doggie Day Care gift bag, rather than Tom Cruise, who has some very outre opinions on the subject of mental health care, when,as I understand Scientology, which consists of worshipping the spirits of dead aliens, his own is a little shaky.

posted by Blanche. on March 4, 2006 at 11:22 PM | link to this | reply

Then we all need to embrace communism, then.

Cause, that's the only way I see, that a doctor or a teacher could make as much money as, say, Tom Cruise.

MPO,
Judi Dench in Victoria's Secret and diamond brooch? I'm not saying that I CAN'T visualize it, I'm trying really hard not to.  Lalalalala...As for the rest of the stuff, I'd really like to live in a world where someone who actually does something, like cure polio gets a $100, 000 gift bag.

if you go to a post, and it really sucks, you should be able to press the "back" button on your computer to take your click back.

There's no such thing as "useless" trivia...
when you're as smart as I am, you're never "lost" in any conversation.  Because, regardless of the topic, I will always have something to add.
