Thank you for taking time to reply - it's a puzzler.  Thank you also for your kind offer to answer questions.  I am on a learning curve with my gardening - but adore the way it is so relaxing, calming and rewarding.  I can see how much pleasure yours gives you - it's good to observe.

Dolls-43,
That's a good question and one that I can't answer. I would not know how they would do that. I am sure it's a simple explanation, but one that escapes me. If I find out I will let you know. Ask any questions you may have about anything.

Can you answer a question for me?
I read your blog and you know a great deal about plants.  I garden a bit and something is puzzling me. ... why have my previously red peonies flowered pink this year?  It isn't just my garden, I am a bit nutty when something puzzles me so cycled to my old house.  The red peonies at my former home have also flowered pink this year.  If you have any answer to the peony mystery I would appreciate it very much.  Hope you don't mind me asking.  Lol

I think it will work. The leaves on the new plants sure look good.
The potatoes should be able to grow nicely in the loose pile of leaves. So give it a try and let me know how you come out.
