Nanar,
As the Prof says, the takeoff is really a special moment.  Hit the throttle, rumble down the runway, faster, on the ground, off, on,off, on, pull back,,,,, f f f f f f f f f f   you're in the air.  Flying is truly beautiful.  I had to come back and read about it a second time.

Open skies.

Dear Nanaroo.. I always had a good feeling every time the plane I was on was on the take off. I really envy you having the chance to fly.

During WWII, a lot of young recruit pilots were given a pilot license to fly raids to Germany etc., but since some of the were below 18 they were not given a driver's license for a car. What injustice, but a good laugh. .... regards.. Prof

Nan.......

Did I tell you I am sooooo impressed with any woman that flies a plane.  I have a girlfriend that does too.  My car and bike are all that I could handle! "You Go Girl"!

you are absolutely right- judgement error is the number one cause of problems!

Nanar,

You sound like someone I might trust as a small aircraft pilot.  I have been up with a few too many who screwed up nearly every time I went up with them.  My younger brother could fly well, but his judgement was terrible.  At least twice he pulled us out of situations with really expert handling of the aircraft, but they were situations that we got into through his own lack of judgement.  I won't even talk about some of the others I have flown with.

If I were a pilot, I would feel safe going up with pilots of whom I had doubts, but I'm not, so I just stay out of private aircraft.  The average private pilot flies like the average private driver drives.  Overconfidence seems to be the biggest problem, as it is in many things.  It sounds like you have a little more sense than that.

I know, Nanaroo, but don't forget how old I am. HAHA
That must have been about 1949 or 1950.  Something like that.

I never will forget the night we buzzed the Kansas City A's baseball game at the old stadium on Brooklyn.   That was long before the Royals came along.

Oh how fun for you.   It sure brings back memories to me.   I have never flown a plane but when I was young, my dad flew a little four seater and he would take my sis and me up.   I especially loved the night flights.   It was so exciting.   I was just sure that I would become an Amelia Earheart but somehow I never did get into it.

Use the Force, Luke

You have one hell of an adventurous spirit!  Motorcycles, flying airplanes... the only death-defying thing I do in the course of a day is put a little extra butter on my muffin.

stay safe, Zen Master.
