people and pets form all kinds of bonds, why waste time judging wheter they are relating "normally":-) I personally think we can make some extrodinary connections with our pets. The Belgian Shepherd I lost last winter was right up there with the most important
Teacher I ever had. I learned more about the really important things in life from that dog than i did from any person...strange but true. And I have 4 kids and 8 grandkids and one incubating Great Grand daughter. I love em all

Quirky,
Bottled water is pampering? I don't think that our children find the way we treat our Ollie insulting at all...In fact, they have a hand in the spoiling whenever they are around. Thanks for sharing!

Quirky--- I agree that pets are like children in many ways.
And I love that about them. But, alas, I'm not one who leaves the light on while I am away so that my dog won't be afraid of the dark.

QuirkyAlone,
I'm seeing many more dogs in businesses and on buses around Seattle, and I don't have a problem with it, unless the dog takes up a seat on the bus!

How funny
My youngest needs just as much attention as the rest. He cannot change his own litter box or fill his food bowl. I wonder if my kids feel neglected when I take care of my youngest? I will have to ask them.

Thanks. It reminds me of a show I watched on Discovery, where some monks had been attacked by a croc while bathing. Even though one of them was killed, the others insisted on the government leaving it alone.

My son has adopted two ladybugs.
I am not singing them to sleep...I draw the line at "keeping them company so they don't get lonely while he is busy."

Excellent Way to Make a Point
Legitimate authority, expert, or experience gives the essential proof every time. A third party is always necessary when cannot be settled among the parties involved in conflict or difference of opinion!! This further indicates that the conflict resolution strategies of this doctor are more than reasonable. You have made my day!!!!

I suppose you could say some people go to extremes, but whatever floats your boat, right? I mean, whose to say what's extreme and what isn't?

For some reason, your comment made me think of that song, "Mama don't let your babies grow up to be doggies." Oh...it was cowboys?? Who knew! lol. I'm with ya, I have three "babies" who will never grow up.

Isn't it something the things we do for pets?
My husband, who most times is Mr. Macho, talks baby talk to one of our dogs. It cracks me up every time I hear it, but I swear that dog responds.

I believe it is quite the opposite. Revering our pets teaches children that they are deserving of respect, and that they have feelings, too. Animals are wonderful teachers to young kids; and, you'll never find a more devoted protector.
