In Melbourne there has been a massive movement of children to the private school sector. Parents are citing a lack of confidence in government schools and that they fear their children won't receive as good an education in a government school. My boys went to a government school in their primary years, but then moved to the local Catholic private school for high school as I wasn't happy with the standard of discipline in the government high schools. Now my eldest son attends a government high school, but one which is allowed to choose its students from the many who apply. It has been proven that government schools in low socio economic areas have much poorer conditions and standards - what hope have those children got?

Tremendous post...

(even if you did, for the 9 billionth time, take some liberties with your headline)

You're very progressive!

Btw, have you seen the film "Crash", yet?  It very much plays into the theme of your post.
