saul,
Bylaws?  Rules?  Post-event test tossout?  Then the Feds will step in, and the states, national laws, international laws, rulings from the Pope.....  Maybe I would to well to torpedo this ship before it gets out of port and into International Waters.  Thanks for bringing that up.  I only hope that I haven't gone so far with the idea that I need a lawyer to step out of it.

Great idea, Jack_Flash. And when a blogger should accept his prize,
you can make sure the by-laws and regulations do not in any way call for a post-event "controlled substance testing", as this would constitute the disqualification of nearly all of us, even the Christians.

symphony,
I'm about to have late lunch, then I'll get over to see you.  I always got over there, but lately I have been a little short of time.  As soon as I eat, I'll get over and raise a stink at your place.  Can't have my lovely Symphony lonely.

Nanar,

Excuse me for going of on a tangent there.  I think best of show is excellent.  It makes me think of a big Wolfhound parading past the judges in all of its flowing haired glory.

I'm not surprised about the sun in the indicator.  When it hits directly, it does look just like the light is on.  You can sit still and stare at it and be uncertain.  Just watch it as you go through a shadow, or shade it.  I'll leave my lengthy monologue in the last comment.  You might find it interesting.

Nanar,

I would have to take another look at your picture, but chances are you have an air cooled engine.  If the cylinder heads have a lot of fins on them, it's air cooled.  It has an oil cooler as a supplement to the air cooling.  Air cooled engines always run pretty hot, even where weather is semi-cool, so they need all of the cooling they can get.  Volkswagens and Porsches, which you know a little about, have air cooled engines, but they also have oil coolers in the plenum, or air cooling chamber, that surrounds the engine and exhausts past the finned cylinder heads.

Also, inline, transverse-mounted, four-bangers are notably bad on cooling, especially at low speeds.  That's one of the main reasons that you have an oil cooler.  If you want to hear nightmare stories about motorcycle cooling, talk to someone who has owned one of the old Limey bikes, the Ariel Square Four.  A beautiful bike, a design from hell.

When there is an oil cooler, on any engine, it does require extra oil.  The oil cooler works exactly like a little radiator, and it takes extra oil to fill that up.  It's usually less than a quart, even less on a motorcycle, but extra oil is always needed.

I like the 'Best in Show' blog title too-
Thanks for the good motorcycle info!  The oil light wasn't on that day, it was just the way the sunlight was hitting the indicator.  I have had to add a little oil though- oil cooled engines must use more oil than water cooled ones?  It's about time for the Dragon's 4000 mile check-up and they'll change the oil then.

ms bradrock,

I just went back to your blog and found my comment.  Suddenly, it dawned on me why you weren't surprised.  And you are right.  I left that comment, then the idea for the post struck, and that was it!  A Blog Is Born!

What a deal!    You were my inspiration!

ms bradrock,
It's really a natural, isn't it?  I just now happened to think--I need to talk to Bill Gates about this.  Microsoft would go nuts for the idea.  They might even allow Blog Olympics a free competition area on msn.com.  They could add some big PR dollars, reduce taxes, the whole kit and kaboodle!  How could such a project possibly fail?!

Tiger,
Thank you.  Those are all quite good.  I have a hard time deciding which I like best.  A really hard time.  I kind of favor  "Best in Show Blog'' because it reminds me of a dog show.  Dog Show/ Blog Show.  The more I think about it, the more I like it.  They are all good, but that one is a lovely.

ms bradrock,

I remember leaving you a comment, but I have to go back and read it.  I'm sure it was relevant, wise,  and remarkably witty.  I just need to go back and refresh my memory on what I said.  It was a little late, and I have to monitor myself carefully to be sure that I knew what I was doing.
