Krisles...

I understand completely the "charm" in a bracelet. My granddaughter who is now 4 is and has always been enthralled with my bracelets--I wear a lot of them--but the charm bracelet she would hold onto for hours admiring each little trinket. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad to know that for you it isn't simply a bracelet either. Blessings...

Thank you also for stopping by and reading my post on manners. I'm with Emerson on that one as well. It feels so good to be gracious and mannerly even when others do not always reciprocate. I am an American expatriate living in the Middle East at the moment...my husband often teases me about being trampled upon, but I still try. It is true though that some will never learn because they were never taught early on.

As usual, a blog as charming as the person herself.

You're so right about how it is human nature..... and you do have your own form of "charms"......and now you've given me another way to think of my bracelet that I hadn't before - a journal/biograhy/blog.  My granddaughter's already have their eyes on my charms......it's funny.....even with their own, they love to finger mine and hear the stories behind them.....

Thank you, so much....you obviously know all about style yourself!  I am enjoying this butterfly charm collecting.  I think I'll start a non-Avery necklace, for when I travel....and make it a mixture of gold and silver....so I can collect all kinds of charms that will just chronicle my trips.  I'd never collected charms before.  You might think about replacing your lost charm bracelet with a new one.  I would suggest looking into jamesavery.com.  I have a lot of his jewelry, not just the charm bracelets.

And that is a very charming way to express exactly what charms are.....thank you for recognizing that about what many might just think are vanity pieces.  And thanks for reading!

Significance and sharing!  You nailed it exactly!  Those two words describe the best things about charms....and why they can be so important to the wearer, and bring so much pleasure.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with them....and the compliment on the post.

Yes, I have a necklace.....I love it and always get lots of comments on it because not many of it have them....you and I are sooooo uneeeeeek!!! You should wear your bracelets!  I didn't wear mine for a long time, either, and I am enjoying them again so much.....and I've gotten back into collecting new charms again......I'm enjoying it with the granddaughters.  My niece has an Avery bracelet I started for her when she was about 4 and she's 20 (I think..) now with 2 per yr on it just from me.....a small fortune on her wrist....I really need to spring to have them moved to a necklace for her, and probably will at some significant point in her life.  Your bracelet with the pink stones sounds beautiful!!

I hadn't heard of any but the wholesome charms, either, and really have no idea what the others must be other than maybe representing things (or people?) they've done, etc., gang totems, etc.....whatever, charms have always been used on the negative side, too, I suppose - witches, etc.  I love crystals, too!! I have some beautiful crystal necklaces I wear.....and loose ones that I have around just because they are beautiful...I hold those a lot, too. Thanks for reading!

You are a charm, my dear!
You do this so well. I don't know what else to say.

Hi Kris, hope you're not working too hard.
I've just posted Episode 25 of the Road Trip Sagas. Hope you can find time to check it out.

Hi Krisles
I think it's very human to find a way to symbolize events, people and hopes in our lives.  To condense them onto a bracelet is an efficient way to do it.  Then someday you can give yours away to your daughter or grandchild with a little concordance explaining the meaning of each charm.  I guess I've got my own charm collection of sorts, but it's much more cumbersome.  Things like dogtags, my wedding ring, a khaki shirt I wore at age 6, my grade 8 agenda book, that sort of thing.  Each one has a story behind it, and, of course, we all love stories here

Hi Krisles.....What a pretty post about pretty things....
I once had a charm bracelet yeras ago, and then misplaced it somehow. But I do understand the meaning each charm holds for you and how special this jewelry is. Sounds like a pretty collection, as do those butterfly pieces. You Texas women sure have style and a way about you.

A charm bracelet shows that you cherish your life and your family.

I Like Charms Also
I like them for significance and to share when it catches the eye of a curious person.  I like to have sports and my alma mater (Florida Gators) and that is a good conversation starter!  I know of the negative ones and do not get into that either for each wears things of choice! Good post!

I love Charm Bracelets....I have several

But for some reason I rarely wear them. I used to have a Charm Necklace. Bet you've got one of those too.

I get favorite pieces of jewelry and only wear those no matter what!!! Are you like that? I have a 14 K gold bracelet I bought in Cayez Puerto Rico. It's a tennis bracelet but with pink CZ's instead of diamonds. It's really gorgeous!

The only charms I've heard of are the more wholesome type that encircle one's wrist. While I don't have a charm bracelet I do have a necklace of Austrian crystal that I wore to every dance in high school, and I take it out and hold it often too!

Madame
Well, like I said, charms are a form of communication.  I don't happen to be in touch with the level of young women who would use them in that way and if I were their age now, wouldn't personally....  I just never was a follower of anything just to follow; if I liked something other people were doing, I did it or wore it because I liked it, too......and, I've always preferred people who usually act charming.  Thanks for putting me on alert for the other kind of bracelets.

In the local schools here,

"charm bracelets" typically signify a somewhat less wholesome "quality".
