- Go to THE BIBLE IS WAY TOO LIMITING
kooka_lives - I couldn't agree more and we've seen the debilitating effects
this antiquated work has had on the intellect of some people on an individual basis. Demonstrated for us a few times right here on Blogit. We've seen people of reasonable intelligence rendered effectively stupid by attempting to utilize this book as the foundation for all conclusions. One individual comes to mind. A person that was highly intelligent, was capable of extremely gifted writing but had concluded that both you and I were detriments to society based solely on his religious belief. The conclusion was convoluted but so too were this individual's actions as derived from this conclusion. When you look at the entire scenario, we have a holy book presenting a very limited perspective of a world that has outgrown it's relevancy. This particular individual then utilizes this redundant work to extract parameters by which to judge others. Then pro-actively pursues those who do not believe any of the things found in this redundant work. The single mindedness and singular agenda, both serving to effectively render himself a blithering fool of diminished real intellect. Where the bible has been and remains like a set of shackles constricting our collective thought processes as a species, it can also turn some individuals into dribbling monkeys.

if people would see that, then we could all move on to better existence.
those were people writing from where they were at that time. they aren't "eternal verities".
but there is honesty there --
