I had to find it in my hard drive and repost!

Maj, You should have been in charge of FEMA
I think we would have been OK if you had been running things backin September and not "Brownie" who the pres said was doing a  "hell of a job"

(Did I just say "phoptos"?)

posted by majroj on February 18, 2006 at 6:00 AM | link to this | reply

BN was more of a "frontier". This is more like 1860's Hannibal Missouri,

densely "developed" and everyone who cares jostling for position.

Looking back, the essential structure of BN,er,Blogit inevitably creates a venue more like "People" magazine than like "The Saturday Evening Post"; the former has/had a more sensationalist editorial bent, but in the end outlived the "Post" because the majority of people don't leave their workaday lives for enlightenment, but for some eye candy and drama.

Here, with essentially NO editing and rewards based upon popularity, it's a wonder that every post isn't graced with "nude celebrity photos". One DOES have more prosaic phoptos of many of Blogit's participants (including at least for a while yours truly...an image four millimeters high).

Yes, I think Blogit is a social phenomenon...so we can make of it what we will, I guess, and hang the incentives of rank and money. I wish I could donate my earnings to a pool for those folks who really need the socialization but are hard up for the money.

Prof, thanks for the great comment,
Your mother is RIGHT ON! with her remaks about children and grand children. What a joy for me! and for your mom.

Democratic.

Dear Cynthia.. What you were saying is really true. I for one, was not really after how much I make in BLOGIT. I guess I will be better off in money if I answer SURVEYS. For me, BLOGIT is my window to the world. The fast interactive communication and exchange of ideas is superb. Just what I need. It is also democratic since you can really put some remarks and of course some of them is not so good, though I have never encoutenred some remarks that I have to delete.

Regarding your grandchildren. 'My mother said that like business, children is always a loss, while the grandchildren is the profit.' ... I hope you are with me.

regards for now... May I offer you a    and a ... Prof

Azur, it can start out as a pleasure, blogging,
then as you said, it can become a treadmill. Then it's time to take a break.

Telynor, You were one of the writers
here on blogit, that always seemed to be writing with absolute honesty. This was most
appealing to me and still is.

Anglo, thanks for letting me know you found this.

I think this approach is probably the best because otherwise it
becomes like a treadmill. That is the way it got for me  and I let iit  rule me but recently I woke up one morning and no longer cared if I was ranking highly. I think that it does impact on the way we write if we have to constantly contort to get a few more readers. Also, it is best to comment as and when rather than in a tit for tat manner or to solicit replies
. In other words you don't have to comment back to me.
You did make me nostalgic for the blogging network

I've always enjoyed your writing, and I hope you continue to do it here! You've always managed to give me something to think about.
