sannhet - I cannot imagine what a truly intelligent species of being
would think of the human race. We have to be an inter-galactic joke somewhere. We would be toxic to them. From the ease with which we demonstrate our duplicity, to how we have factioned ourselves into nations and religions.

Gome -
That is the question, isn't it? One look at us and any respectable alien race would high-tale it out of here!

CrimsonCarouse - From what we do know, we can conclude that
while the odds of their being other intelligent life in the universe is astronomically in favour of, the same odds exist against the possibility of them having ever contacted us. So extra terrestrials likely do exist but it is unlikely that they have ever contacted us but again this is based on what we do know, which is limited. Specifically what we know about the laws of physics in relationship to the possible speed of space travel.

This is a topic I've been thinking about lately
I can't seem to make up my mind if I believe in other life forms out there or not. There are several paintings from the Renaissance era depicting humans pointing to the sky at large, brightly illuminated disc shaped objects. This either means man has contemplated aliens or encountered them well before our time. To me that gives more validation then today's "abduction" stories. As far as the religion aspect if you read my posts on the Church of the SubGenius you will get at least one religion's theory on alien life form. Good post Gomedome.
