Excellent post Kooka
It doesn't take to many visits to Sunday mass to realize just how much the church wants to enslave you. Be afraid, be very afraid! I like your statement about "breaking the chains".

And just becasue you do believe
does not mean there is a God.

And if I am wrong, and there is a God then I will deal with that when the times comes.  Since I am an honest person and live by integrity, I can not lie to myself and pretend I believe in something I do not believe in.

And so we come back to the question.  Is it more important to believe and worship in God above living life the right way?  If I were to just give in and 'play it safe' and say okay, I'll believe in God just so that I won't risk the punishment, then I have become untrue to myself and shown I lack all integrity.  At that point I am throwing away the real values I know are important in life in order to worship God.  I would rather know that I am living my life by the correct values than to worry about possible punishment from God if I am unable to believe in him.

So what is more important to God?  Being immoral and lying about your beliefs, just so he has you worshipping him?  or being true to yourself, and living a very moral life and openly admitting you are unable to believe in him?

Kooka, just because you don't believe, does not mean
my God does not exist -- It is the old saying, If I believe the way I believe and am wrong, then I lose nothing, if you believe and are wrong, you may lose everything!   In the beginning God, and in the end it will be God, just wait and see!

Then I would be proof otherwise.  I do not worship your Lord or believe in him and I live a great life and get what I need.
It is not belief that does it, it is the person.  I know believers who get screwed at every turn and have things going really, really bad for them.  Just because you feel as though God is providing for you proves nothing.  Believers and unbelievers alike get equally treatment at that level.

Kooka, I don't mean to argue the point, but I am a proof
I have been a Christian since I was 8 years old, now I am 56, and for these past 48 years, I have faithfully worshipped my Lord, and He has faithfully given me the help that I have needed!

I have yet to see any proof of that at all.
