It's a sunny day in my place, as for St. Valentine - I'm not in love - that's why, this fest. is not for me. But I wish all the lovers all over the world true love. I hope you feel beter than me on this day.

Hi Corbin,
I'm not pro abortion, but I agree with those, who say that if a child was conceived due to a rape, the woman should have a right to decide, whether she is able to give birth to a child. Mind you, the victims of rapes are often very young girls (12-15 years old). If I had a daughter  and she experienced such a tragedy, I wouldn't make her give birth to a child conceived in this way...it would be lesser evil, don't you think so?

This is a very sensitive affair even here in France and in some European countries. I think abortion should be granted in exceptional cases like those I saw and read in your post. However, the danger with abortion is that, it has been transformed into a political affair and it also the reason why we low birth rates in Europe today.

Corbin,
This is a very emotional issue no matter the end result...as for me, I'll have to keep my mouth shut! On this one you'll never know which side of the fence I'm on...

Excellent, it is sure to go to the Supreme Court where there are now

more judges who read the Constitution as it was originally intended, where you find the world LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness 100% more times than you do the words, 'Right to an abortion.'

Good post.

Corbin
I hope this is not a trend. I would hate to see women take to the back alley's and the quacks! I think the state and government needs to stay out of the womb. I don't  belileve in abortion for me, but I do believe there are times when it can be the only option for some.

OK......I think that rape and incest, though regrettable, are not the fault of the child.....but if the mother's like is in danger...it's an option.  I say this as my rock solid, unchangable, personal beliefs....but I am not advocating forcing my beliefs on anyone else....

All right Corbin so lets get into the gray area, civily,
I will ask, do you think a woman should have to carry a baby, that was conceived by rape, incest or that the pregnancy may be dangerous to her health?

Now scoop...
you know how I am about the gray areas....

Corbin I understand and agree but what are your feelings on the exemptions?

posted by scoop on February 11, 2006 at 7:34 AM | link to this | reply

Ans as you know I am Pro-Life....but I'm not trying to promote my beliefs.  It's to volatile a subject to go there...and no one's mind is going to be changed......

For me it's about.....the timing,  is it the time now for this?  It will surely drive another wedge into our already polarized nation....when we need it the least.

Corbin as you know I am pro abortion BUT if a law like this is passed
I still say there should be exemptions for rape, incest and the health of women. I don't think they are unreasonable items to have in the law.

Corbin,

This is a good post and a great comment. I am not a big pro-life supporter. I will say this right off the bat. The decision to have an abortion is very personal. The problem I have with it really has nothing to do with the morals and such of the deal. That argument is best left for another day.

I think this is too early to try and test Roe vs. Wade. I guess someone decided we have to start somewhere. This will be interesting to see. I hate to see this start in a state that has a pretty conservative bent. I think we need to have a pretty good consensus in the country before we even begin to talk about overturning something like Roe vs. Wade.

We will see how it all plays out.
