Good points. The Dan Brown thing is not a quandary to me. I couldn't write in that way even if I wanted to.

We have to care whether or not the reader can understand what we are
saying, but we don't have to care about their opinion of our opinion. Recently, I've been realizing that some information is simply not going to be interesting to absolutely everyone. Therefore, not everyone will read it. But so what? "You can take a horse to water but you can't make 'em drink it" is kind of what I'm thinking. Although, writers such as Dan Brown, with his
The Da Vinci Code have found a formula for sucking readers into turning the pages of his book.... Ah me. What a quandary!

I care what people think...
Some are witty or funny or have a nice reasoned way of expressing radical ideas. But that doesn't mean I write to please them. There's enough of that inner child who said radical stuff for its shock value to keep me laughing up my sleeve sometimes.

You know only last night
someone was telling me that the Master told his followers that he was going to tell them the secret of life.
He left them there and went off.
They pondered and pondered getting more and more excited
So when he came back they said "sooooooooooooo????"
He said the secret of life...
The difference between you and me???
IS
I don't care
heheheheh

It Makes Complete Sense to Me
Depending upon the audience one writes and decide the importance of the audience opinion!! Clear message!
