- Go to THE BOOK OF REVELATION IS ABOUT THE PAST NOT THE FUTURE
Interesting interpretation.

then, Janesopinion
shortly could be 10,000 years from now by the "day as a thousand years".
it's only been 2,000 years and add 10 to that and we have 12 days.
so it could be anywheer from a few days (12,000 years) to a month (30,00 years) to several months or a year (365,000 years)
or it could be just within the lifetime of the writer or those to whom he is writing.
then of course we could get int o the time and times and half a time thing and get really complicated
from when in Daninel's time to when in the past or present time or beyond is this particular time span?
I settle for Revelation taking place within the lifetimes of those reading. It describes the Roman Empire to a "T" and as I said, it couches in metaphor what it is really saying about Rome and its emporer Nero (666) so as to not bring down the wrath of Rome.
We just want it to be prophecy so much.
We are looking for an end to the world around us.
It's all within ourselves if we really understand it.

Yeah, Xenox, but you're forgetting something
the Bible also mentions that one day in God's eyes is equal to a thousand years. So time is sort of irrelevent to God, and "shortly" could mean a thousand years or two.
I know of a brilliant scholar who has spent years studying Jewish history, New Testament history and he believes that Revelation is both an accounting of the early church and also a prophecy of what is to come. BTW, his name is Ray Van der laan.
