Thanks for your comment - I'm not sure I'm as nice as that but I'm certainly not going to make it a one-off. If I know someone's unhappy I feel compelled to help in some way - even if it is only to listen.

It was nice of you to go to luch with her and lend a ear. I think that maybe doing this will give you a little more insight into her and then you won't find her so difficult to deal with, maybe.

Sounds as though you were being a friend and that's what Trudy needed at the moment. "Noodles with Trudy," would make a great title for a poem.

It's better to sit there and feel better than it is to sit there and tell her that she has nothing to worry about compared to you, which is what some people would do. However, if you could avoid mentioning the food next time I would be grateful as you have made me feel hungry.
