as for alone time...
my office is where I spent 60 percent of my time... because its fully equipped with a bar, large screen TV, lounge that folds out into a queen size bed, restroom, walk in closet, and I don't even have to leave the house.

That pic brings back memories
I used to ice skate when I was growing up but we had to go to the Ice Rink. (It's never cold enough in Durban to snow.) I used to love it!

I haven't ice skated in so long... and that's all we did growing up...
My school was right near a skating rink... I practically lived there until I was about 14....

Once, I was hanging out at 'Lake Alice' skating rink, tryng to do the 'cool' thing, when we saw this bum skating around the sides of the rink. I looked at him more closely, and realized that it was my Dad, dressed up as a bum! What a jokester- needless to say, I ignored him.

Ice skating was the "in thing" to do when I was a teenager.
It didn't matter if you couldn't skate because you were just meant to hang out by the edge of the rink and look cool for the girls for a four hour session LOL

Nanaroo,
I would just like to say that you seem to have had a childhood that most of us only dreamed of, your parents sound like wonderful people who loved their children, very much. Thank you for sharing your memories with us!

Great shot!
Your blog makes me realize how the locale where we're raised has alot to do with our upbringing. You have this wonderful memory of your dad teaching you to ice skate.
I live in the south. My dad had a gambling problem. I learned what a Par-Lay and a bookie was at an early age - But never learned skating....no ice skaters here in the south.

That is really a keeper, Nanaroo!
What a memory, a very tactile memory, I'll bet learning to skate at such a young age did help you get over fears and make you more adventurous!
