Avant and Taps,

Thanks for caring and inquiring. Dad is doing okay.  He is eating better and sleeping better.   He get chilled very easily and is tired most of the time.

He had his esophagus removed and his stomach was pulled up and attached at his collar bone.  Does that answer your question, Avant?  I don't really know what they call it.  The doctor never referred to is as anything other than surgery to remove the esophagus.

He is now going through chemo again to make sure there aren't any sneaky little particles of cancer hiding in him somewhere waiting to strike.

I, too, am very tired.  It is a privilege to be able to take care of my dad.   He appreciates it a lot but it is also a bit of a strain.  I can't just sit with him all day and keep him company and he gets a little blue being by himself and not being able to come and go as he pleases.   He just doesn't have the energy or the strength.

I'll try to keep you posted but I don't get to the computer every day.  I don't even get to it more than once a week some weeks and, when I do, I usually only have time to check and and answer my email.

I'm glad to hear that your father is doing better. Did he have an esophageal transection?

I'm glad that you can update us now and then on your Dad's condition and let us know how you are holding up.    Praying for you both and wishing there was more that I could do.   I remember well what it is like to care for a loved one and I am so thankful that I had that opportunity with my Mom and my Dad and then later my Sis.   Give your Dad my love.
