I did read your post line after line and  did like the fact that, you wrote a little about  passing on of the Widow of Dr King. Nevertheless, you seem not to follow the teachings of either  Late Dr. King or his now late wife. For you seem to nurse strong hatred or that is what your post seems to potray. The Kings now dead were for one violence unity of race  that is above colour lines. However, I think  do have your reasons , which I respect.
God Bless.

Struggles Yesterday and Today (and Tomorrow)

Over the past 12 months America has celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision and the 40th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. We have mourned the loss of Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King. There is something to be said for these events and the necessity to look backwards, but there is also something to be said to pay attention to the present and to look ahead.

It's a difficult situation because young Americans have historical amnesia, and they need to exposed to situations that will help them to "re-live" the experiences of the struggle against the dehumanizing ideology of white supremacy and the struggle against unnecessary war.

And yet we need to turn our attention today to equally dehumanizing ideologies propagated in mass media, perpetuating racism, sexism, consumerism -- and reducing human beings to human cattle. And we need to struggle against a policy of permanent war being played out currently in the Middle East and Central Asia, but soon to spread to the rest of the world.

Maybe that's why we have to reflect on the past, in order to draw strength and inspiration for the struggles of the present and the future.

M.P.O.,
No need to! The confusion is understood!

I should probably correct myself here...

I was thinking of Rosa Parks (for some reason) ... I hadn't even realized Mrs. Scott-King had died, until I saw it on the news a few minutes ago.

Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind

What (exactly) did she do, in all the years...

following her famous refusal?  You never really hear about any of the other contributions she (presumably) made to the movement.
