Blanche, it was purely accidental that I found myself on the same
date in my 1980's journal as I was writing a few days ago. That's why I was so surprised myself.

Cynthia,

Hm, I didn't remember the actual date of the Challenger disaster, but I do remember where I was and how riveting it was.  I was in German class when I was in college.  I was horrified by the disaster itself and by how quickly people started coming up with really crass jokes about it.

Is it coincidental that you are on Jan. 29, 1986, or are you linking your journal transcription to today's date?

DrJPT, Thanks for the comment. When I was twenty
or thirty or even forty I could have cared less if i had any memory at all. Now it seems to really matter.

Majroj, I actually meant all 3, but
I didn't realise that's what I meant till you asked. Thanks.

ginnieb, your writing does have the richness
of detail that keeping a journal helps to provide. I too think of Blogging as having replaced those handwritten pages.

It is Good to Keep Memories in Some Form...

Does the subject of your last sentence ("it") refer to journaling , life,

memory, or...what, what? The suspense is killing me.

Seriously, I hear you. My wife and I went through about a cubic foot of old photos during our "cottage" rental a couple years ago; she remembered who the people were, I was able to place and date them. Couple a' old fogies, we were. But he memories...

Journal writing is irreplaceable eh Cynthia?
I wish I'd done more of it.  I have books filled with my journalling, especially during the six years or so when my marriage was falling apart.  It's amazing to read these...transports one right back!  Sounds like you've been diligent at writing in yours.  I think of blogging as my journal now.  Nice to see ya!
