All in all, I did okay...
coulda/shoulda done better, though.

It was a good forecast of the nominations.

In retrospect...

I must have a secret, buried animosity towards british women ... seeing as I snubbed both Knightley and Weisz.

Otherwise, my predictions weren't half bad.

MPO,

I really had my doubts before I went about whether he could pull it off. I thought it'd be as potentially cheesy as doing Elvis, but he really did it.  You're right, it wasn't so much an impersonation, because he didn't look that much like him, but I can't describe it, he made it his own.

Well, too bad, maybe he'll get another one later on.

He WAS amazing...

It was less an impersonation, than a channeling of Johnny Cash.   The way he stood, the way he walked, the way he held his guitar "like he owned it".

While Phoenix is unlikely to win, that certainly doesn't make him any less deserving.

MPO,
Wow, I'll have to see Match Point and Capote, but I'll wait til I can Netflix them. I know, lame, but I'm in no big rush.  Those are some impressive credentials.  I would like to see Phoenix especially get an Oscar for Walk the Line, I just thought he did an outstanding job.

Blanche_DuBois,

I've actually seen all of the films I mention:

(A) I live in close proximity to three different versions of the finest theater chain in the U.S. (the Ritz at the Bourse, the Ritz 5 & the Ritz East).

(B) Until recently, I had a press pass.  I've been (briefly) employed as a film critic twice.   And, (fingers crossed) may be again shortly.

(SEE bottom of the page)

P.S. "Capote" was the best (non-documentary) film of the year.  Beyond that, I'd be delighted to see "Match Point" receive any recognition, at all ... I'm not optimistic of it's chances, however.

Thank you, A&B!
If I keep winning puzzles, I might just regain a small amount of my former (meager) popularity yet!

This is a popular list. Great job picking the winners.

MPO,
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon for "Walk the Line", other than that, I can't comment, because I haven't seen most of what's been nominated.  How do you know so much?
