Hello Corbin,
Although I am quite liberal, I'm against an easy access to porns. Of course, I think that we - adults - have the right to read and watch what we want. But as for our kids it is quite different. I hope Microsoft invents the programmes which will protect kids - it is very important, as when kids watch sex or violence - no doubt it influences their psyche...Am I right?

I am glad to discover you had knowledge of Cameroon and this post just helped you to understand some petty details. It is not often that you find people who know Cameroon. In africa countries that are known are South Africa, Nigeria Egypt and Sudan. May I use this occasion to thank you for having taken the pains to read through my post. Remain Blessed.

Corbin thank you for this on-going subject. It is interesting and I
am ignorant of most of the workings. There is not only a lot of information on the post but the Griskard (hope I did not misspell) comment was also very informative. Keep up the good work. I was so amazed that he had so much to say without any trashy name calling as the other commenter used. I lost interest in what Dennison he may have had to say when I got to the ugly part.

You have to admit that 'Dick Cheney ogling my googling' is worth at least a chuckle.

What if the government went to Kroger (a grocery store chain) and demand information on what people are purchasing? Doesn't both Kroger and Google have any expectation of privacy?
As to the law, the 'protection of children' argument is a red-herring. There are several problems with this law and it raises mutiple Constitutional issues.
First, the Congress as no legitimate Constitutional authority to pass it (I know, that damned Constitution thing again). I know the Federal government has all but declared itself the ultimate authority in any and all issues regarding our lives but it is not. When it comes to children,
parents are the ultimate authority.
Second, as stated by that 'damned Constitution thing again' what isn't a power granted the federal government belongs rightfully with the States or the People (especially Parents). The law usurps their legitimate authority.
Third, it assumes the World Wide Web is the Internet. It is not. The Web is only one out of many, many applications of the Internet. There are PLENTY of non-Web ways of getting porn off the Internet. Have you checked out Usenet lately? So the law actually serves no useful purpose.
Fourth, the law can only possibly control U.S. based websites. There would still be plenty of foreign based websites available to children with porn. What's next? The Federal government uses the 'protection of children' as a justification for government imposed controls of access to foreign websites, like China?
Anyway, those are thoughts that come immediately to mind.

Cheney...
...is an evil, greedy little shit-bag for whom no amount of personal wealth is enough, and who knows no moral or ethical boundaries to stop him persuing more and more.
This is just another side-show for him.
