Thanks for visiting. He's 11 and was sitting an entrance exam to get into a High School. It's the equivalent of a universal test we had here some years ago called the 11 Plus. Those that took it and passed tended to go to Grammar school and others like me, who either didn't take it or failed, went to the local Comprehensive. School worked out OK for me but it doesn't for many children. If you're a special needs child or from an ethnic background or very, very poor, you count. If not, nobody cares whether you pass maths or not. Successive governments have completely destroyed our once fine education system...and then they dare to talk about choice??
