If you have bad circulation/varicose veins etc put the blocks at the foot of the bed.

I'm really chuffed that you have a clean bill of health, Blanche. I think we all tend to hang on to the past - even if it drags us down.

Frankenkitty
Being in love, with the sun on your face and watching the birds means it doesn't matter where you live, Frankenkitty.

Its great that you have a clean report on your health! I just loved reading this post and found it sooooooooo entertaining and well written. When I go to the doctors there isn't conversation and if you don't feel like reading , it is uncomfortable trying to find a place to focus your eyes.
Stay healthy and keep writing, this was great!

Wonderful short pice. It kept me moving down the page; it even gave me pause to cogitate a little.

JohnMcNab,
I only wish I had brilliant banter about home remedies in the clinic waiting room. I think Ginnieb's right (although here I haven't seen too many bibles, which may or may not be a morbid thought depending on how you look at it), but just a complete hush. People here don't talk much to strangers, preferring the company of cellphones, headphones and dvds instead.
I do know that feeling, I had it Tuesday, as a matter of fact, of being released, relieved, out into the world after getting a clean bill of health. RYN on Tuesday's blog, I have pondered the word "nostalgia" and come to the conclusion, that I'm not so much wistfully longing for the past as the diciotnary would have it, as wrestling with it, reluctant to let it go for fear it was wasted time, holding onto it for some purpose that I can't fathom.

I think I'd like Canada
except for the weather. I keep trying to convince my husband to move there, but he likes South Carolina. To me, SC is the armpit of social progression, but then again, I probably would feel that way about most places in the US. What a drag, to hate everything about a place and be stupid enough in love to stay. Being stupid in love is rather nice though, like feeling sun on your face and watching birds. Good to hear you are healthy.

Whacky
I was thinking that yesterday, Whacky, and thinking what a shame it is that we never connect again - until possibly the next appointment.

Children are usually prime entertainment in waiting rooms, MerryAnne, but your offspring would be exemplary.

Pat_B
There's an article in itself, Pat_B, sleepers swooshing out of bed feet first. That would solve the indigestion and the hernia problems in one go.

I knew it Mac!
It is way more fun in Canada....even at the doc's office!!! Here the waiting rooms are empty, quiet, and often full of bibles. I've had the good fortune to visit a few ERs here in the last year too and same thing...no wait...you're escorted in! Of course that also means no conversations, no new relationships, no fun at all!! Boy...I sure love your writing! And happy to hear about your clean bill of health...that does feel awfully damned good! And if only the good die young, let me be wicked bad!!!

Well it's not the same in the States...
what with private health insurance and all, but the waiting room thing I'm thinking is universal. Blocks under the head of the bed - also good for hiatal hernia. Bad for folks with smooth sheets and soft skin who may tend to slide out over the foot of the bed. Maybe add a block under the foot to help that... :)
