Interesting about the ice cream, Whim.
The only thing is...a half-cup? A half-cup! I eat a freaking pint at a time! That's four half-cups!
Seriously, though, even at 24g per half cup, that ice cream would only be permitted on the maintenance phase of Atkins. 20g per day is your start point for Atkins, and you really need to use that for your veggies. It's good to know that the ice cream makers are trying, and that there will be some ready-made treats available when I get to maintenance level in 2010.

Splenda
Actually, Blue Bunny makes an ice cream with Splenda. 1/2 cup is 24 carbs.
The South Beach plan utilizes ricotta with a dash of flavoring (almond, lemon, lime, etc.) and a touch of Splenda for their first phase desserts.
