Xeno-x -- Fascism is also a word that is used far too frequently
Some people throw it at anything that makes them uncomfortable, or asks them to modify unruly or detrimental behaviour. I tend to agree that those who are most apt to use it in the religious arena, are also most likely to demonstrate traits of fascism. If anything, it is a word that describes the right wing fundies better than any other.

Fascism (in Italian, fascismo), capitalized, was the authoritarian political movement which ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943 under the leadership of Benito Mussolini.
it also refers in a derogative fashion to conservatives, or right-wingers as opposed to the left, or liberal.

but usually it describes someone who will not accept views outside of their own -- and who want other views suppressed
or who want their views expressly favored above all others.
This would refer to conservative Christians (Christimos -- new term, since justsouno doesn't like the term, "Christianos") who constantly demand that their views be government policy.

prayer in schools
creationism
intelligantdesign
segregation
putting god back into the schools and government
the Ten Commandments in publicly owned areas.

and more

and they would basically run over and steamroll any opposition in their way (take the judge who basically sneaked a Ten Commandments scupture into the rotunda of a Tennessee courthouse in violation of the law and insisted that it remain -- took months and court orders and sheriff's deputies to remove it (and the Christimos condemned this as being "godless".

now, who are the fascists?

Those who are intolerant of other points of view -- that's who?
