If you find an answer can you pass it on?
I've never found a solution to this problem. In the end I think you just have to accept that you are setting a good example as you bring her up and this is a blip along the way.

I would tell her she can join, but her behavior will be monitored closely. While she may not pull off top grades, accountability, being where she promises to be, and lying, would be enough for me to let her stay in drama. With a drug addict father and a mother who has rejected, just getting by can be a full plate for a young person facing that much rejection and uncertainty.

Thanks koriani,
We will look into that. She has to join the club by Friday. So we are thinking of some type of solution that is fair to all.

Without knowing her it can be really hard to give advice
but would telling her if she flies straight for a while THEN she can join the Drama Club help?
Also, I highly recommend EFT for children with emotional problems. You can find a practitioner in your area at www.emofree.com that will either work with you one-on-one or, if there is no one close, someone can work with you over the phone.
You can even download the free EFT manual and learn to do it yourself.
