Worrying about things DOES have a tendency to make obstacles much bigger than they actually are.

A pillory is one of those devices that people were banished to in the middle ages. They stuck their hands and head through, and it was closed on them. It was made of two posts. It sounds like horrible punishment.

I am hurting, too. It's cold and rainy here, too. I guess that's a sign I'm getting older...

I tend to be very sensitive and high strung. It has taken an enormous effort to learn about patience and anger.

I could learn a lot more about patience...
I love the word "Pillory."  What does it mean?  I just like the way it sounds.

"Wrap yourself in a blanket of patience. . .
Imagine patience as a big fluffy blanket in your favorite color and wrap it around yourself...now doesn't that feel gooooood......"  I was listening to my cancer meditation CD while driving home following my final radiation treatment and was so relaxed I missed my exit.  Patience, and I was able to turn around in 5-6 miles and remain so calm...wrapped in the pink blanket of patience...such a virtue to possess...I need more of it when I hear the clock ticking, ticking, ticking. . .

i have learnt how to become patient...this is the best way to reach what we want in life...calm and patience...

I agree
entirely with the letting go of the struggle part; people no longer have a hold over you when you let go.

Great work! I see patience as necessary for those who believe that the concept of time is under our control. When they learn that it isn't, the need for patience fades away.

I'm called patient by some, but I don't see a lot of it. I only see my impatience.

You're right, Avant-Garde,
letting go  of preconceptions and ideas of the way things should be is the biggest step to living life as it is.

I understand. When my father was sick, I dropped out of college, because I couldn't understand any of my studies. My mind was perpetually preoccupied with his illness. I hope you are doing well.

Things don't always go as we want them to. Learning to let go of how we think they should is a big step for most of us here.

Well said  .     "All things come to those who wait..."  -- however, sometimes I want it NOW.  I know what you mean when you said that patience was a theme in your life....mine too.  Occasionally, I remember that my favorite animal (the tiger) is only successful 3 out of 10 tries in hunting....gotta have patience to do that, day in & day out.  Sometimes, you go to bed hungry.

Sometimes in today's society, patience seems a lost art. Your opening
statement describes it well.

Avant,
Your poetic prose is as beautifully said as ever.   I'm particularly tired today so I didn't even try to understand it. It was just written so poetically that I enjoyed reading it anyway.  Thanks for being you.

Avant-Garde,
I learn that every day: when I accept  a higher good than my own will and ego, then I stop clashing against a wall of frustration.

Yes. No can be a statement of self-worth, which itself is a valuable lesson.

I think there is a time when you can say" Alright I think this has gone on long enough". I dont believe giving up reason, time and reaction is the answer in this world. There is a time to say" no, what is  it really."I think there should be more balance than all spiritual. But in spiritual terms I think you are right on as usual.
