Do this:
Try when it matters to you, and let the rest of what matters to your Mom go.
I know this sounds harsh, but you'll never be able to measure up to a perfectionist's standards, because they are unrealistic standards. You will make yourself miserable trying.
I know. My Mom is a workaholic. I am not, nor will I ever be, and I will never measure to what she thinks I should be.
Love her for her good qualities, pray for her, be kind to her...and tune out the rest.
