Yes. I've always been intrigued by the symbolism of shade on a face.

its like another person crawls inside you and starts acting outrageously...then its over and you stand their disappointed with yourelf and wondering how you fell into the trap of illusion again....and trying to remember what you were clinging to so desperately as your "right".

Yes, it is a sad revelation to discover this.

Wonderfully put, as usual. Reminds me of one of my husband's favorite points of view...when you point a finger at someone, remember that you've got three fingers pointing back at you. (love that visual image!).

Was it Bono who sang, 'Every poet is a thief'?

I can remember so many times arguing over something petty, and when it's over, I can't even remember what I was arguing about. It's like a fix.

One of your best ones yet.
"thoughts that are what thoughts do" that wisdom line reminds me of this line I wrote in one of my poems. It's kind of tastelessly self-promotional to say that, but it honestly brought that to mind.
The last line is dead on the money.

Very good post.. I really liked -- "Yet, denial is a powerful intoxicant. It gives a temporary freedom, until a simple reflection reveals the truth" Thanks!

Not initially. But, as we look and judge ourselves, we feel guilt over being less. When denial kicks in is when we use will to overcome our weaknesses, and consider ourselves 'fixed.' But, what is fixed but the search that can never be found?

Ahh yes...
but if reflection were only as simple as a glance--deeper, far deeper, truth's wisdom does lance--straight into the mind's eye, reflection must peer; when reflection's sustained denial disappears. I appreciate your insight, you trigger deep thought. Such pearls of great price are seldom bought.

Do you think to blame yourself is what gives into denial? A few times I have said" alright this is it, I take full responsibility and recognize this as what I have done alone, I do not deserve anything, I see this as my own", yet it always takes on new shapes with blame, denial and the pit, or just a big fog.

Where else can I be innocent and free, when I have first seen myself as worthy of condemnation? Blame becomes valuable only in a sense that I can find temporary relief from my self-imprisonment.

I agree the pwerful intoxicant of denial. My past is full of what seems to be crushing memories, so much so that to think of one, it will drown by the others.I think one in comparison to many may even be harder to bear in a sense. Many seem to have a current of confusion where denial is easiy swallowed.

A beautiful
antidote to the blame culture so many seem determined to create. I don't know that I'd want to spend a day without my daily fix here. Thank you again for sharing your words with us
