Thanks for the comment. Yes, it is very hard to rehab an animal; especially a baby and then figure out what is in their best interest is...let them go into the wild or keep them! Gotta put the selfishness aside and do what is right for them. I think I did for Krunchie, though I miss him every day. Hope he's happy.

I pulled many live and injured birds out of chimneys as a sweep, and after rehab
I had to let them go. My youngest son always asked to actually release them. Some stayed longer and our feelings were much like yours about your squirrel. You make him sound like a joyous child.
I love and ache over those memories and you captured that emotion so very well. I'm sorry for everyone who does the right thing and hurts for it.
