Yes, if the CIA and FBI had really done their job . . .
. . . more to the point, if they had been allowed to do their job, and if they had been allowed to share intelligence, the hijackers could have been thwarted. Neither condition was present, thanks to the restrictions imposed by the Bubba administration.
(By the way: I understand Ed Asner, that fount of political and national security wisdom, has a new book out that offers all sorts of second-guessing about what the Bush administration shoulda/woulda/coulda done to prevent the attacks. Interestingly, he reportedly says only Bush shoulda/woulda/coulda, not Bubba. But what do expect from a Bubba devotee?)

If the FBI and CIA had done their job ...
the hijackers could have been thwarted without the King's spy program or the Patriot Act. Kinda makes you wonder who is really benefitting from the never ending "war on terror." Are the American people really any safer, or is the King using the attack as an excuse to consolidate all governmental power?
