editormum, beachbelle and gomedome have convinced me to leave these old
blogs in their place for people to read. I have decided to follow their advice and leave them in place. Thanks for stopping by and reading some 'old stuff'.

Nah, Editormum says
keep it! Keep it. You may drop it if you wish, but I like it better with it.

Hi Benzhina.

I've just read it and it is a great post.

Its first great merit (it has many) is that you allowed the reader to understand it without needing to see the film, something I did not, although your post also made me want to see the film, which I will. It was beautifully witten and didn't feel as you say, long.

I think like me (with "Green Mile") you have seen the film a number of times, but you manage to convey freshness, but the extra viewings allowed you to gain your insight and you marry the events and character descriptions in the film wonderfully well to make your points.

Those few moments (in my case) of clarity with a book or a film (or anything, relationship, music etc) are the high points. If only I could have more!!!

I am going to review "The Matrix" one day. I've probably read a whole heap of shit into it that isn't there, which begs a question. I wonder if sometimes I do this and "post rationalise". ie Suspect that something "deeper" is hidden and then look for events in the book or film which substantiate the deeper meaning. Knowing me, probably.

Cheers Grandma.

SLATE magazine just said that "french fries are the new cigarettes" in their
commentaries and opinions. They have used the phrase I pointed out in my Josie and the Pussycats formal film review. "Feathers are the new rhinestones," etc. See, I told you that the film was extremely relevant as a time capsule and social commentary. See???

msaries, thanks for taking the time to read my long, involved review, cut in half
by the way. Please do rent it and tell me what you think. Wanna use it for some class project or other writing? You are welcome to do so.

I watched "Josie and the Pussycats" in bits and pieces from Starz.
But your observations about it warrant a second look.
