Ebb and Flow
I like that proverb. It makes me pause and consider its many facets and layers of enigmatic reason. Thank you for the kind words.

By the way, I appreciate your originality and your wisdom.

your original thoughts seem to synchronize with a proverb I recently wrote:
Will is a matter of mind over matter:  Never mind what doesn't matter.

You're right: it is about perception. The greatest thing a person can realize is that no matter what is happening, freedom is possible. It is how you choose to see the world around you.

I think that freedom
is a matter of perception. I've just been hearing about a four-year old who's waiting for a heart transplant. He may well consider himself free but I'm sure his parents don't. Blair's 'new' free choice of available hospitals for treatment in a particular area isn't going to help him. He needs someone to die first.

That's great. I tried to mention all the people I really liked once, and I kept finding people after it was posted. That certainly didn't mean that they weren't appreciated. I understand your feelings.

It's good to discard things from time to time. It's purgative.

Yesterday I held a key and today it has been discarded. This was a big key which locked up a big part of my life. Literally.  It feels OK today. I am going to write a post about it when the urge takes me.

Avant-Garde,

I am letting go, washing my hands of all that holds me, binds me, to the past.  Changing perception is a big part of that, what it is that I want. I have spent too much time trying to appear what I am not, now I want what's true and real, and never mind how I am perceived.

To people who are grounded in the world's way of perceiving, someone who sees differently might appear mad, or so eccentric as to be a laughing stock. But, much can be said for the effects that come from being in the presence of what is real. I hope you've had a great New Year.

It cannot be repeated enough, although it does not sink in immediately. There is a lot of resistance to this, because it takes away what appears valuable.

I think it is more of a question of what you want. Most people want the satisfaction of being right, or winning, or holding someone else responsible. If you were to truly want freedom, though, it is a matter of being truly honest and taking responsibility for everything that happens.

I think I can see through those eyes in meditation/prayer, but most of the time it is a matter of seeing everything new, which is not easy with every memory as a reminder and being with others who do not see everything new. I wonder the influence these people would have that see everything new and free?

thanks

That phrase deserves to be repeated like a mantra.

Thank you very much for being my first reader this new year. I do also hope that , you did have a nice time together with your family. I also hope with the grace and help of God that this year will be better and also that, organisations such as the UN  will have better leadership and be focused to what they were created for. Once again thanks a million and God Bless.

Is it that easy to be free?
It seems to me that we all bandy about this idea of choosing freedom, myself included, but really it's not so easy.  We're all so rooted in habit, perhaps unable to take the necessary steps because a wall of fear stands between us and what we'd like to be. Your writing is thought-provoking. Thanks.

What a wonderful post to start a New Year with...great post.     This reminds me of the story of a man who was captured & put into prison.  He lanquished there for a long time....pondering why he was placed in his cell and what he would do if he ever got out.  A VERY long time went by.  Finally, a little boy came down into the dungeon and walked right into the man's cell.  The man was amazed (to say the least !!!).  It seemed that the man didn't even check to see if the cell door was locked...  He just made that assumption.  He could have walked out of his cell at any time.      Anyway.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  all my best to you & your family.....
