"Live!" or "die!" should be only in the hands of the Creator
He says "BE!"to it and it comes into being. Why then another creature, like you and me should say "Die!"? Jesus was my prophet too, and he taught me forgiveness. The prophet who came after him taught me that, if, after forgiving repeatedly, the abuser thinks of me as weak, and keeps on offending, then, and only then, I have to punish with a punishment not exceeding in severity the initial offense itself.
Best thing is to avoid getting into trouble, but if you are already in trouble, then warn several times, inform the offender about the way you perceive the offense. Locking up the offender is better than killing him, it gives him the chance to repent, reconsider the proportion of the Universe and be grateful. Just my opinion. Happy New Year.

I think I'd have to agree with Food4 on this one... if it's going to be
used, it needs to be evaluated case by case.

Drat...
That should be incontrovertible.

If a legal system is going to have a death penalty...
It would be a more effective deterrent if criminals knew they would meet a swift end.  Having said that, it should only be implemented in cases where the proof of guilt is incrontrivertible.  Under such a system Scott Peterson would still be serving a life sentence but the BTK killer would be dead already.

I believe the death penalty is the only thing that keeps more
People from commiting violent crimes. We MUST have it or our society will become even more brutal and violent.
