Don't forget, you can pick your battles

There were certain things about growing up I wasn't going to buy into either -- mostly the part about having to do what everybody else was doing (the huge mortgage, the soul sucking job, the relationships of various kinds).  I DO still watch cartoons...and pay my bills, even if not much is left.  I DO keep my house clean... while listening to my iPod Mini, which I nicknamed the iBinky.  My house is a townhouse condo; not a castle by any means, but very affordable.

My husband's friend said to him recently, "I envy you and your wife."  "Why?" my husband said. "We have nothing, not that we ever wanted much."

"That's just it," the friend said.  "I'm up to my ears in debt, all this stuff I own, stress, kids, but you two are free.  You can do mostly what you please the way you want.  I wish I had that."

Huh!  So all those things I thought when I was 17...    paid off.

True
If you can go to college.  That way you have a little more time to get ready for "maturity".
