Don't about 1-2% of people fall for these scams?
It's a small percentage, but obviously enough to keep them in business.

It's a game of percentages
They're sneaky about it. Tthey don't offer you things you need; they offer you things you crave like money for nothing, shows of success or how to be a great chemically enhanced lover. If only a few percent of their mails are successful they must make money. Me, I once answered a "questionnaire" in the street and found myself pursued by a timeshare company so I learnt about scams before I ever went online.
