No, I don't read NLP, brisbane_artist. Perhaps it won't be a rejection letter, who knows? Happy New Year.

"Awaiting The Rejection!"
Do you think "Thinking Like This" will bring about the rejection.
Do you read NLP?
Try imagining the acceptance letter,
Jo

Thanks Original. I sent it on the 27th - just waiting for the rejection now. Good luck with your own submissions.

John, you're such a killjoy.
I know it would be great odds to be accepted on the first go round, but think positive until you hear from them. You're free to give up after a decent interval, of course. In the meantime, keep those fingers crossed.

Blanche
Ell smiled sweetly and fluttered her eyelashes, which in Ell speak means ' on your bike.' The book our friend gave me is most odd. It is full of nothing but little anecdotes of the 1930's, and I keep saying to Ell, "How the hell can you define this as a book?" Most blogs are longer and more interesting, but what do I know, Blanche?

JohnMcnab,
I have Googled my own name, John, and what I got was hilarious: bowling scores and bowling rankings in a town in Wisconsin I couldn't pronounce. Apparently, my namesake is an avid bowler.
I agree with you totally about the CC issue: how dense is it to post a writer's name, without even getting a written authorization or by-your-leave. As for your friend the author, does she suffer from other delusions of grandeur, such as being reincarnated royalty? I don't think the math quite adds up. I hope she didn't affect your mood. or your writing, and did Ell grunt her approval?

I'll do that smartdog. I might end up like a UK friend who has written 5 books and is running out of places to keep the manuscripts. He refuses to consider a publisher.

Thanks you for the 'you first, Mac' comment, ginnie. That made me smile. Now if I should comment - 'after you, Ginnie.' this could go on for years.

What do you mean 'if you EVER publish,' ginnie? Of course you will publish. I Googled your name and found your article - excellent music to my ears, it was. Keep on writing, young Canadian.

Ah! I git it now!
There is a writer who has exactly the same name as me...or me her...whichever...right down to the same middle initial! She has self-published a couple of books and if you google her name..my name...you get her first. ..I'm somewhere down the list though from an article that was published in a magazine and also in their online edition. Anyway, I ordered two of my namesake's books and if I ever publish I will have to use another name...if ya know what I mean! I think I could come up with a few combos!

MayB
Understood, MayB. After discovering the name thing - the breaking of a taken for granted contract, as far as I was concerned - I remembered you writing as if you dealt with CC and wondered how you could do so, as I know how well you guard your privacy. Your comment answered my wondering.

ginnie
It wasn't that CC was wrong or right, ginnie, it was just that I logged on without 'Loggin In' if you follow me and discovered my own name and my pen name there for the world to read. I was annoyed about that - after all, what is the point of a pen name- but this morning a thought wormed its way in to my blank mind. I googled my own name and I was stunned to find it there. You know what it is and you could find it in seconds. As I don't want this to happen, I deleted all my articles. As far as the world is concerned, I am John MacNab - period.
My friend's friend's name (now there's a strange couple of words to try and figure out) is Mary Cook and as far as I can make out, she does make money. Her latest book; the one I got for a present is named 'A Bubble off Plumb.' It's quite funny about the holidays - you had Canadians visiting and we were across in the States visiting.

No more CC Mac?
Was it not what you thought? Your friend's friend books: does she sell many? Just wondering about the self-publishing..not something I'd want to do but wondering if it can be successful. Speaking of 'holiday writing'...this are my first typed words in a week! When you live away from home 'company' comes for 2 weeks! Aghhhh!!! ;)
