Original,
Maybe 'cause they're not used to it, so they didn't give it a chance.

Spitfire,
You have to wonder about the people in charge of the association I work for.

I did have fun tonight baking up a batch of cakes!

Word,
It does sound like the association belongs to you! Don't ya hate that? You run a business that isn't owned by you! Have a great holiday and have fun baking!

I used to really weight up the worth of threepenny? Yikes! People would tell me I was the most uncoperative child ever bin born and I would say.....

I like fruitcake, but not the sort that has been soaked in alcohol (which is a big no no these days because of all the meds that I am on). Especially the lighter fruitcakes that have a lighter batter and lots of cherries in it! Hmmm. Maybe I should go make a Dundee cake....

HG,
Our dark fruit cake uses browning - which is made from dark sugar. That's what make the cake so dark. Then it's loaded with tons of fruit and lots of rum - enough to make you drunk if you're not careful. By comparison light fruit cake is exactly that - light.

Offbeats, it's a non-profit sports association
These days our committee seems to be thinking of it being more of a non-paying and non-money-making association than anything else.
I don't think Quirky and yourself realize what you're missing out on not having dark fruit cake!

I will take things easy as I do want to be able to do more than spend Christmas in a dazed stupor.

Have you ever watched "The Secret life of--" on TV? Do you get it? It's about FOOD. Last eve I watched "The Secret Life of Fruitcake." It, of course, went into all the humor of the "dreaded fruitcake". But, actually , I like it. Sometime, if others are interested, pass along the recipe. I wish you a peaceful and SECURE CHRISTMAS.

I'm sure you'll have a most creative
week. Don't do too much though, you do want to be able to enjoy the holidays and not be exhausted.

Of course I've had dark fruit cake
I kinda miss all the treats my grandma used to bake in Trinidad. The stuff they call fruit cake here in the States is fit for a landfill.
