Thanks for stopping by, Jane!
Ain't it the truth! Whether it was surveillance, breaking down the Gonzales' front door and terrorizing Elian and his mother (Hello, Two-Sides Kerry!), the intervention in Bosnia (undertaken
without UN sanction, unlike Iraq), lobbing cruise missles willy-(ahem!)-nilly into Iraq, the lamestream news media hardly uttered a critical word of Bubba's actions, let alone deliberately tried to sabotage any of them.

The irony of it is that, had Bush not continued the program
of snooping and spying on terrorists, and there was another terrorist attack, the Libs would be crucifying him for not doing more to prevent terrorism. He's truly damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.
And yes, the lamestream media (love that!) seems to have conveniently forgotten that previous Presidents did the same damned thing. OK, so it was OK when Clinton spied on terrorists but not when a Republican president does the same?
Ah, gotta love the flip floppin' two sided press.

Welcome, straightforward!
Thanks for stopping by! Good idea, but how do you propose to do that? Remember, radical Islamic terrorism has been going onsince way before September 11th; how do you get people to stop wanting to be terrorists?
Offbeats, you are sadly right, that's why Two-Sides Kerry got as many votes as he did.
Mystic, good comment, but wrong party for this era. The Bubba administration used the IRS to screw its enemies, and try Ronnie Earle down Texas way on for size if you want to see a political hack (not a fascist) using bureaucracy to screw his enemies today. I believe you are referring to 1984, a highly recommended read.

Writer of Light, don't you think it makes better sense to be preventing the
fire, that is preventing people from becoming terrorists, than being the fire brigade, that is carrying out surveillance to flush them out?

Offbeat again shows her naivite!
What an idiotic statement! That reminds me of the thinking that if you have nothing to hide, then you won't mind the police kicking down your door in the middle of the night. What you fail to understand is that these fascists use the bureaucracy to "screw" their political enemies, using Nixon's words.
I suggest you read, if you can, George Orwell's 1989 to get a glimpse of the dangers of an all-powerful Big Brother government protecting its citizens during a perpetual war on terror.

Of course they presented this as though the average American were going to be spied on! Sad thing is, most bought it!
"He's going to find out I talked to a married woman, or God forbid, my old mother uses depends" People really tend to believe that is what this is all about...The total number being realistic is quite low and the persons being listened to are people who MAY or MAY NOT be American's. they are people of suspect.... Sometimes I think we are our own worst enemy!
