I did worry about that line and the one after it, word.  I'm glad it worked.  As for all the work - I'm getting really fed up with the work and lack of success.

ginnie
Very sobering, ginnie.  It isn't very often that a talented person realises it themselves, and even after being told how good they are, they need to find the courage to do something about it.

Only you could write the words,
'I'm off to kill myself.' and make me laugh about it. It's tough, but everything worth anything takes some real effort out of us.

There's a line Mac...
...from the British version of "The Office"...it's just a simple two words "wasted talent" but Steve and I use it often...in a comical way.  I guess it's the lack of confidence that stops people from producing, especially in a commercial way.  Others see 'talent' but do those with the talent see it in themselves?  It's odd though that after these creative people are gone we think of how much more they could have created...how well they could have been known.  Hmm...sobering thoughts...

jacenta
Never be embarassed to tell they world that you have been published, jacenta.  Shout it from the rooftops.  The more you shout it, the more you get published.  Congratulations!  You are doing what I should be doing, writing about  what you know.  My problem is that I don't focus, and tend to try too many things at once, with the result I don't get much done.  Merry Christmas jacenta....is that 11 days left?

johnmcnab,

You have so much ability to write and I am glad you have the drive.  I am almost embarassed to tell you that I have sold several articles in the past to different markets.  John my talent is no match to yours. I wrote about and sold what I know about and that was about my children.  Your horizons are so much more grandeur than mine and your knowledge base seems much broader.  My writings served their purpose and worked well for the markets I sold to, but just think of the markets you could break into.  Your attitude is good and with persevering, this is only the beginning for you!

Tell Ell congratulations,  for me.                      I wish you both a very Merry Christmas.

As usual, it's all about the tone, JohnMcNab,
If you hear it in their voice, you can usually trust your gut on what the speaker's intentions are.

BlancheDubois
It's the smug way the question is asked, Blanche - or is it just me who thinks the question is asked in a smug way?   It's probably my inferiority complex fighting its way to the surface.

JohnMcNab,
Well, whatever you are getting rejected, at least you are doing it: putting it out there, the finished product (or work in progress). I do know what you mean about the "hyena",  I wish there wouldn't be so much one-upsmanship among creative types. It's not as though there isn't a niche for everybody.  Congratulations.

ginnie

It's a total waste when talent doesn't get used, ginnie.  My father was an artist.  He was first and foremost a miner, but the artwork was natural for him.   My mother used to paint, but not as well as him, and she used to get furious with my father when he casually helped her but never thought of using his talent for himself.   One of our daughters is a writer - and damned good at it, and the other is an artist- and superb at it, but they don't realise either that talent should be used before it's too late.....listen to who is talking!   CC = Constant Content, which if you look back over Original_Influence's blogs you will find is a website which sells content to website owners.

The only decent Canadian sit-com I have seen is the Red Green show, although in Scotland I was a fan of 'Due South' and 'Northern Exposure.'   Thank you for the compliment, ginnie.  I just got two emails from CC rejecting the last two articles because 'they are not the type they want.'  You know what?  I feel better about the company because they did reject them.  I must post them and give everybody a laugh, and then you will realise why I will never sell them.

Well I sure hope you do Mac!
I for one, love your writing...and I'm Canadian and I have seen, is it Corner Gas Station? I hate to sound like I don't know my own country's sitcoms but I only saw it once on a trip home....and would have to say that Canada needs more!!! My father wrote plays but never tried to get any published...even though he was right up there with the Wayne and Shuster type of comedy..I don't even know if he ever even thought of getting published..he died way too young. Don't miss the boat Mac....you can do it!!! And congrats on the others you've had published!! Gonna tell us what CC is?

It sounds like we have the same philosophy of life, MerryAnne.  Back up further, head down, and charge - again and again.

John
I am a firm believer, in you to start with, but also in stubborness.  I keep sending the stuff out and every once in a while I get an acceptance.  I'm hoping that once my "published" article portfolio reaches the double digits... lol... that something good will happen.
