I've been and done the smog in Glasgow and the central industrial belt of Scotland, Blanche, and I' m glad I survived it. Canada is a whole new, crystal clear world.

JohnMcNab,
I love the image of the steam roiling up off the Quebec river. I can see the Olympic Mountains, across the Puget Sound, and I'm afraid that the mist surrounding them is smog, a lot less enchanting. Yeah, it wouldn't surpise me if some newspaper editor drummed up a whole Water War to sell papers.

The following morning's scenery was entrancing, FactorFiction. The hoar frost on every surface sparkled in the sunlight.

I am so warped...
I started thinking about all of the wonderful snow picture photo album pages I could make. I don't always go off on the picture thing immediately...I have been taking inventory over the past 24 hours and it has me wanting to DO not count. And I don't get enough good snow pictures here....

That's odd. I wrote an answer but it hasn't appeared. I must hve forgotten to click 'Add Comment.' If you are at -34C just now, MerryAnne, what is it going to be like when it gets cold? Do you get above -40C? I never thought I would ever be imagining temperatures like this and here I am living them - isn't life amazing? We had Sundogs last year but we haven't seen any this year - so far.

My pleasure, ginnie. The views are amazing, even although we are on the wrong side of the road. The creek mouths along the road are freezing over and the river itself will soon be solid. A fabulous country, full of extremes.

What I love about the Canadian winter is the sunshine, BrightIrish. It can be minus 30C but the sun shines and you have to wear sunglasses .....really cool, in more ways than one.

What temperature do you consider cool, word? Before I came here the coldest I'd ever suffered was 19f, and I thought that was darned cold.

You don't need to worry about a thing, Tapsel. I'll make sure that Lumbering Jack cuts down enough trees for you.

I love the elements Mac..
...and love reading them described about Canada. You sure need your woolies today! I'm fascinated by nature's extremes. That was really funny about Vegas and living in frozen lands of Canada. Damn..I miss it so much. :( It's snowy here but a balmy 29F. Your views sound amazing! Thanks for sharing them!

Hope your staying warm on such a cold day! The visual sounds beautiful, it was 8 degrees here this morning when I woke up. Honestly, I thrive in the cold weather ( not this cold) and prefer it to the hot and humid days of summer. Maybe thats because I was born in Alberta, Canada and it just stayed with me.
Have a good day!

I can't ever imagine being that cold.
As it is, I'm trying not to use swear words when I get up in the morning and my husband has the windows flung wide open. letting in the cold...er....cool air.
