No wonder trees are an analogy used in sacred literature: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and it's fruit, tempting the first man and woman. The fruit of a tree as a symbol of the natural outcome of the heart, fruition, maturity, the seasons, the cycles of a tree's life. I'm just spitballing here, metaphorically, but trees are a ripe metaphor, if you'll pardon the pun.
