Danny Thomas was a great man, a great comedian, a great heart.

My pleasure, Talion. St. Jude's is the model hospital for all hospitals
and if I can do anything to help them in their ceaseless and tireless war against children's diseases, I will do so. And you are absolutely right: very little is ever mentioned about the corporate donations and sponsorships of charities. It is rare that famous people get a nod from the media, unless it's local (and in the newspaper), for their charity work and usually only in passing when talking about something far less beneficial. Good news about good things and good people doesn't sell as well as dirt, unfortunately.

Saul, I always liked Danny Thomas. Rusty gave Jerry Seinfeld his smile...

I live in Memphis, so sometimes I take it for granted that many aren't as aware of St. Jude's (the patron saint of lost causes, by the way) and the wonderful things they do. Also, we hear about the greed of corporations like Enron and Walmart, but rarely do we here about some of the noble things they do. For example, McDonald's sponsor Ronald McDonald houses, rent-free homes for the parents of children being cared for at St. Jude. Many movie stars and celebrities make a point to visit there when in Memphis, but you don't see it on Entertainment Tonight and such. I give regularly to St. Jude's, but it never dawned on me to write about it here. Thanks for bringing this noble cause to light.
