Dear Jo,...Thanks for the info about the Moreton Bay Fig. Well it also tells that it will strangle the host tree. Anyway it was a great effort for you to find out what I was talking about. I really admire how you linked the Moreton Bay Fig....Much appreciated....regards...Prof.

Hi Prof
its been a while since we chatted! I have been finishing up at work and getting ready for Christmas
I am glad you told me that because that type of tree suites the story better than the one that it actually is here in Aussie land. The type of tree is a Moreton Bay Fig and it usually never grows the way it has here in the picture. This is an example of man made inteference with nature and then nature adapting. I don't think they fall over though - although when I looked up the tree http://lamington.nrsm.uq.edu.au/Documents/Plant/mbfig.htm it does talk of stuff like that happening.
I am glad you like the pic I will be talking online a lot more over the holidays .
Jo

Banyan.
Dear JO... That is a magnificient photo. I think it is a banyan tree. That kind of tree will grows on a regular tree and clings to the host, slowing sucking up the host and taking over and the host tree dies, but if the banyan would take over a very tall tree say 30 feet it will collapse on its own weight because it does not have a true hard wood quality.. When the banyan tree becomes very big a lot of people in my country will avoid that tree because the big branches would just fall without any warning so it became part of our folklore that the spirits that lived on the banyan tree (we call it BALITE) does not want anyone coming close or playing around....Thank you for reminding me of this banyan... I've got a lot of stories about that...regards..Prof.

I sure wish I could come, but we are about 2 degrees outside, would much rather play next to your tree. Would you like to join us in sled riding later?

brisbane_artist, I love this blog and visit it often and yet I seldom comment here. I don't know why. I think I just don't know what to say.
