- Go to Did Air Marshalls Use Excessive Force?
Agreed, SlyCy. You have to be sympathetic to all involved in this
situation: the man, the wife, the air marshalls. It is a situation that can be handled in numerous ways, with sometimes catastrophic results. Unfortunately, the man was not a terrorist or a crazed bomber, which heightens the sadness of the situation. However, I would not ask the air marshalls to do less than they did. Too many lives were potentially at stake.

The unfortunate man had a bipolar disorder. I have OCD and am
very sympathetic to anybody who has a mental illness, but I think you are right. We train and pay these guys to make split second decisions. The man was shouting about a bomb and that has to make an air marshall react the way he was trained. The man's poor wife said afterwards that she could blame only herself. Very sad affair for the poor couple.
